Forklift operator training and assessment

This course is designed for novice forklift drivers who wish to obtain a high risk licence (forklift)  from Workplace Standards Tasmania. An 'Assessment Only' pathway is available for people with experience but who don't have a licence (assessment only).

Eligibility

To apply for a High Risk licence (forklift), you must be at least 18 years of age.

Note: you don't need a drivers licence to get a forklift licence, but you do need a drivers licence if you operate a forklift in a public place.

When and where

Courses are conducted regularly at our headquarters in Hobart.
Courses are also available on demand at your site if you have the right facilities and there are three or more participants.

There is a four-hour classroom session with a written knowledge assessment at the end, and practical training of around four hours, also with an assessment. The 'Assessment Only' course involves a written assessment of around 1.5 hours plus a practical assessment of 1.5 hours.

Note: Assistance in completing the written assessment is available to people with learning difficulties.

Persons successfully completing all assessments are issued with a Statement of Attainment verifying completion of TLID1007C 'Operate a Forklift' , incorporated in the National Transport and Logistics training package (Road Transpor) TLI07,

Basic forklift course: $445 GST Free

Assessment only: $245 GST Free
